Your hometown land surveyor in Chilton County

Alabama Surveying and Mapping, Inc. was founded in Clanton in 2010 by Randy Phillips, PLS, and Chilton County is still where we do most of our work. Because the office is here, we can usually get to a Clanton, Jemison, Thorsby or Maplesville property faster than a firm driving in from Birmingham or Montgomery – and research at the Chilton County courthouse is a short trip, not a day out.

What makes surveying in Chilton County different

Much of the county is still rural: timberland, farms, peach orchards and family land that has been handed down for generations. Older deeds here often describe the land by section, township and range, by creeks and old fence lines – and the original corners may be pine knots or iron pipes set long ago. In February 2019, for example, we recovered an old quarter corner on Bear Branch near Maplesville that also served as the Red Mountain Timber corner. Retracing that kind of evidence is everyday work for us.

On the east side of the county, homes and cabins on Lake Mitchell and Lay Lake along the Coosa River often need an elevation certificate for flood insurance and a boundary survey before a dock, addition or sale. In town, we stake new construction – like the curb staking for the Kendall Estates apartments – and prepare site plans for building permits.

Randy was quick and efficient. Even when he had to make a 2nd trip (becaue I didn't communicate correctly, lol) he did so. He gave me a fair price and they allowed me to communicate through text ..which I preferred. I highly recommend them!

Great experience. I deal with residential surveyors on a regular basis, but when I purchased a tract of land, Randy was recommended by the bank, and turned out to be very responsive, was able to do the job on a very tight schedule, and for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend him for any surveying you need.
